Small tiny windows

Post by Mr. Canoehead »

Looking on the Star Trek Thread I saw a guy Rel working on a Sovereign Class Enterprise, looks friggin amazing!! The picture I saw was the one were he's got the windows perfectly shaped and indented; I'm curious about some techniques on how to do that, were they drilled out? was it just done with a sharp blade, patients, and alot of time?

Help! any tips or suggestions would be appresiated.

Thank you.

First I started by masking off the windows on the smooth hull.

Then putting 3 coats of Mr.Surfacer 1200 (or any fine primer, thin coats are best)over the masks with an airbrush, letting it dry for 24 hours and removing them leaving perfect indentations.

There's a few other techniques for making windows but this is the easiest trick I know of.

That is cool. I'm gonna remember this trick.
