Glue question - thinning Gorilla Glue?

Post by Kekker »

So I would like to thin some Gorilla Glue to try to reduce some of the creaking in the bathroom floor (concrete). The crack is too thin for the "crack fixer" stuff from the hardware store. It would have to be water thin, instead of the thick and gooey straight from the bottle.

Anyone ever try this? I'm thinking some non-polar solvent: toluene, acetone, ethanol or something.

Thoughts?

Yeah, acetone or lacquer thinner. Just don't dilute it too much or it'll defeat the purpose of it being an adhesive. :)

Don't they make a thin 'superglue'-type adhesive now?

Sweet flapping Ghidorah.

Press the nozzle against the crack(s), apply force, and clean up the excess.

Way too thick for any real penetration.*

All it would do is squirt out the sides of the crack.*

Try shooting it into the crack with a hypodermic syringe. My brother used to get syringes from a dentist friend of his back when he was refinishing furniture. It worked great at getting glue into tight joints.

Thinning Gorilla Glue is just too much work. You need this type of super-thin CA:

I've tried using my 'hypodermic needle', but alcohol softened the needle. I pushed the plunger too soon anyway, so it just dripped on the floor...
Sheer elegance in its simplicity.

Political unrest in dictatorships is rather like a round of rock-paper-scissors: The oposition goes on denouncing the regime on the papers, the regime censors the papers, rock-throwing ensues.

Yes. You need a metal needle syringe. Problem is getting ahold of one.
