Raytheon painting question

Post by brt »

When painting the outside of the model, what limitations are there to what paint and how much can be used without losing the effect?

From reading the threads on this effect all I have seen it used on are Enterprise kits. That means a white top coat. That means white paint over the untouched plastic underneath with some decals on top. The more you add over the unpainted underside the less of the effect you will have. I'm not sure if that makes sense.....

What are you building and using this effect for? That may help a bit with answering your question. :D

Building an enterprise refit. I just wasn't sure from what I have read here how many layers of paint the outside of the hull could take before losing the effect. Such as primer coat, white coat....perhaps I should experiment on a lesser model.
