sound circuit

Post by ENT2151 »

Hello, does anyone know of a circuit plan/diagram, or a circuit that can be bought that is small and is able to upload a sound from somewhere. i would also need to handle rapid connection due to the fact of it being used for a DC-15. which is planned to coincide with the pulse of the LED, so it will be turned on and of frequently. i would also need help with picking a speaker that will work, producing a clear sound, or as clear as in the movies, and yet would be behind 0.06". any help is apreciated, thanks.

That's a tuff one. There are some analog digital records out there. These are used most commonly by model railroad guys.

The problem is that there is no way to directly up load audio to it, you are actually playing audio into and enabling the record feature. Radio shack had a miniature version of this I got two to play with I can get the part number off the box if you like.

The other option is a low-end mp3 player. But be careful the one I got is either doing the same thing mentioned above, or it is sampling and processing the audio in real-time. That is the music seems to be played to the device over the USB, if something hangs on my machine during the download, I here the audio skipping. A file copy shouldn't be like that. And the transfer shouldn't be 1:1 audio time. Its a DLink unit.

As far as audio quality . . .Well I have not heard the likes of speaker they use in the Razor Phone. I have some audio files on it and while they aren't loud and they do distort if you try to jack up the volume, they play beautifully at a reasonable volume. Over a good range, Firefly theme is my ring tone. And I have Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy clips for some other ring tones. If anyone knows what speaker is in there please speak up, it has to be ultra thin. A miniature infinium piezo maybe?

i am almost completely lost as to what you are saying. i understand what you are syaing, just not the fine details of it. if you can post some links to the things you mentioned, please do so. as for a low end mps player, i am not sure how that would work, especially with the file playing on cu with the LED.

Contact Randy Neubert at VoodooFX. He's been working on some designs for audio rigs for modeling applications. If he doesn't have the very thing you need, He can tell you what you need to know.

Once you crack open an mp3 player you can use an electronic switch to do the work of 'pressing' the button on the mp3 player. If your lighting circuit then plays a sequence you could build it to turn on the LED which is also wired to the electronic switch to press the play button, then toggle the back track button when the LED and soudn go off, then when the LED comes on again, press play . . . and so forth.

he number one thing with audio circuits is ease of downloading the audio file. As far as I know all the railroad model systems require you to play the audio into the devvice while pressing a record button. If you need a 3 second clip its up to you to get the timing right.

Is it possible to get one that lasts longer than thirty seconds? I'd like to have a base for a Moldy Crow model and would like to play the Dark Forces theme music, but the section I want to play is forty-something seconds long.

The one from VoodooFX has space for 2 minutes of sound.

Yeah, but it's also pretty expensive(should have mentioned that price was a major factor). The Radio Shack one is very cheap, but there isn't enough space to store what I want.

I'll see what I can dig up, but in the mean time, if you want to get the radio shack one and experiment with the trigger when LED flashes it won't kill the pocket book.

I'm probably going to get that one anyway. It's a pretty cheap circuit for what it can do. :) And anything you can dig up would be appreciated, Sparky. :D

Last time I saw them I got 2, they use to have a larger 34 pin or so IC chip that was basically the same technology only in a bigger package. They discountinued it before I could get some so I didn't let these get away when I found them last.

A company called Winbond makes and sells the sound recorder/player chips.

That's the place, Last time I looked all the parts I had bookmarked had already gone obsolete, they are creating newer and I presume bigger parts.
