cheap and easy delay?

Post by guartho »

Yes that's right, it's the sequel to my cheap fade effect thread.

Is there a cheap and (relatively) easy way to delay a circuit's activation?

Ok, I might as well post what I'm up to. I'd like my warp nacelles to fade up from off to on. I haven't tested it, but I think the other thread has me on the right track. I'd also like to have a series of white LEDs in the nacelles do a very quick fade-up, fade-out flash at the point when the blue LEDs reach full brightness.

Basically, I need to delay the activation of a circuit for x seconds and have it deactivate itself x seconds later. I'd imagine I'm past the realm of cheap and easy already, but one can hope.

You can do that with a type 556 chip (which is just 2 555's in one package).
