Are Paint Fumes Hazardous to Your Health?

"The new study isn’t proof that paint and related chemical exposures cause autism, and should be “interpreted with caution,” the authors write. But the findings are in line with previous studies that found an association between paint chemicals and autism. And there’s a growing body of evidence linking the many chemicals found in paint and its fumes to a number of health issues."

I am autistic and my initial reaction (at 06:44 in the morning) to this article is, umm, no, and neither do vaccines.
women exposed to common paint chemicals at work are more likely to have a child with autism spectrum disorder.
My mother was a hospital dietitian before and when she was pregnant with me, so, from my experience, I can declare that exposure to hospital food causes autism.

Yes, if you inhale paint fumes or glue from a paper bag every day it will rot your brain. The latest wave in hysteria from the people who want to put warning labels on jars of peanut butter that says it contains peanuts.

Recent findings have found that some chemicals, like those found in some hobby/art paints, can accumulate over time. There's a reason lead is no longer used but they've also found aluminum too can be hazardous. Long chain stable molecules are particularly hard to rid the body of. Guess what kind of molecules paints have in plenty? Oddly enough acetone breaks downs quite readily in the body. I could go into the issues with carbon based black and radioactive carbon chains, not to mention tire black in the air.

I would think that paint fumes would cause greater harm to the liver than to the nervous system. Not saying it doesn't harm the neurons, of course.

During inhalation, there greater biological availability for transport across the Alveoli membrane into the bloodstream, where the liver is then stuck with cleaning up the mess.

For nervous system damage, I think there is research on VOCs causing Parkinson's for example.
A song that comes to mind is "Industrial Disease" by Dire Straits.
The lyrics mention Parkinson by name.

Hope the above isn't too tangential.
I was diagnosed with autism last year at age 54, so the topic has been on my mind.
Never miss an opportunity to be a class act.

I switched from enamels and lacquers years ago to acrylics and got rid of the fumes.
