Beginner lighting--slave-1

Post by hogdaddy »

I am about start building a Jango slave 1 and a Boba slave 1. I want to illuminate the cockpit dash panels and engines.
New to modeling...what do I need to get started with the lighting? I would like a few different colors (yellow, red, blue, and white).
Is there a kit for this?
I have searched beginner and a few other terms on the forum, but came up with no real answers.

Thanks!

Do you have any wiring, soldering, electronics skills?

Easiest approach that I can think of would be to get a 9 volt battery and some pre-wired LEDs rated for 9 volts and some wire, 24-30 gauge for a long enough run to your battery.

Small LED Christmas light sets are all over the place and very inexpensive. No soldering or having to worry about resistors- great way to get started.

There are also some cheap knickknacks and decorations that use fiber optics. Get a couple on sale and take them apart for the fibers. Craft & hobby shops usually have a pin-drill- a small cylinder about 3 inches long with a collet. A set of tiny drill bits is along side them. The tiniest bits are almost like hair, choose one just a bit bigger than the fiber and use it to drill holes in the model where you want instrument lights.
