Does it HAVE to be a tank?

The challenge: build any kind of hover tank without using a tank kit's hull or turret - because nothing saus 'fun' like 70 tons of floating mayhem.

Or can be be a military vehicle that hovers like an APC or logistics truck or recon hover bike?

Does it have to be military? How about civilian?

And cannot be a kit, right? Cannot be the Bandai hovertruck...has to be a kitbash, correct?

I think the rule description pretty much explains it, but I'd thought I'd ask anyway...

Hrmmm.. Some kind of other hover vehicle is probably fine.

However.... My feelings are no existing armour kit components. So Kit bashed from something unrelated or a complete scratch build.

Hover bus? Hover cargo truck?

Should we switch it to Hover Vehicle challenge? Are we going completely off track?

The final decision would be up to the originator of the challenge I,
suppose, but I don't see why it couldn't be some form of support vehicle.

I don't think there's a ban of existing armor kit components, just on
their unmodified use- no Pzkw IV hulls with jets on the side, for instance.
But if you use the Pzkw IV hull as a turret...well, I think that ought
to be allowed.

Actually, I think HWR MKII has stated something along the lines of "no recognisable tank/AFV components", so no tank hulls as turrets or turrets as hulls but you could, perhaps, use the underside of a turret as the top/crew-access of a turret built from non-tank parts, or a turret top (or 2) as the housing for an engine or as air intake covers.

Thats from his first post on the subject. Seems fairly clear to me.

If your going to use it you had better modify the heck out of it. That rule is mainly for the "Merkava or Leo" unmodified hull crowd. I want this challenge to really stretch skill sets. It also gets people looking at things differrently

Other vehicle types are OK. Id prefer a tank but if that isnt you cup o tea make something else, a support vehicle of some kind or scout.

Cool. Coming back on these forums has been good for me -- getting the ol' creative juices flowing again.

I have a couple of ideas -- but one of them is for a support vehicle. That gives me the out I was looking for.

Oh man.... Don't tempt him to use a tank hull on purpose! :ptl:
