Thank goodness you're back...

Post by TIEbomber1967 »

I was going through withdrawls (okay, not really).
Actually considered going back to Hobbytalk to post stuff, good thing I didn't have to do that.
I even checked in at All Scale Trek (hadn't been there in months) and found nothing new. They didn't even have a post on the new 1:1000 Defiant.

I'd like to comment that some posts as well as thread I started was lost when the site went down.

HobbyTalk is blocked at my work, and I've never signed up there. SSM is the one forum I spend the most time on, and others don't have the same level of activity. I'm glad it's back.

The ISP crashed. Not much we can do about it but move the site to somewhere a little more reliable. And the wheels are turning on that as well.

You should check out scifimodelaction.com if you haven't already. It's put out by TrekWorks/Boyd. It's not as diverse as this forum, nor does it have quite the same level of activity, but it's nice.

Are you saying the site host had issues and crashed??? It does happen....I worked for a BIG bank....we would loose a DataBase now and then....but ours were all mirrored as we could NOT be done over 3 seconds. The host for SSM is more likely not mirroring DB's and hoping for the best.
Thanks to those who keep us running.

The host did something, the database crashed on Tuesday night sometime. All Wednesday they denied there was a proble. Today it got fixed..... for how long though?

Already working on moving. It'll be a lot easier now taht Dan/Jonas has done all the upgrades.

As for missing posts - yeah. They restored from a backup and some things were not backed up.

Looks like the thread I started about post numbering has disappeared too.

Here's an idea. The great American eclipse is coming up, right?
Howabout somebody contact CORONA beer--and get them to tie in their own marketing--where somebody photographs totality through one of their bottles--so see a corona through CORONA.

In exchange? They host a new site.
