sorry to hear you guys are having this problem. we had a hiccup like this in the beginning. might put a general shout out in the general sci-fi section and see if some one knows him personally and might be able to connect with him directly. it worked for us. evidently the site was having trouble sending pm notifications. just a thought. good luck i hope it comes back to you guys , and godspeed.

Just a hiccup. A little challenge. It can still be done again.

If you guys need to you can have it shipped directly to the show. Just set it up with someone. When they get there they will be told they have a package waiting for them.

Well.... Not that we know of yet, anyways.

Sorry to hear how things are going (hope everyone is OK too). Hopefully it will all pull together in time.

C'mon, Ignatz is a pretty level guy. Something happened, we just don't know what. In the immortal worlds of Monty Python - 'It's only a model.' All that can be done is move move forward. So, let's move.

Oh, I'm sure he is. But we don't know what the aliens that abducted him will make him do. So... Just sayin' isall.

Do you think we can pull something together in short order? I'm fine with being Tail End Charlie, and getting the finished kit to the CoMMiES for display at WonderFest.
I'll see what I can dig up quickly. :)

OK - quick and dirty. I'm planning to spend only a week on this, then send it on to Prince of Styrene.

I'm calling it the Bacqatcha.

It's clear right now, mostly, but that will change. :)

I'll start pulling parts together for this one.
Captain Pike: Don't make me laugh.
Commander Burnham: Fortunately for you, I was raised on Vulcan. We don't do funny.
Captain Pike: Ha! (ouch)
Commander Burnham: Maybe I should just shut up.

Math Problem: Sam has 100 model kits, Frank takes 10 model kits ... what does Sam have?
Answer: 100 model kits and a corpse.

I don't smoke wacky tabaccy - never have, don't ever expect to. The secondary bit is actually a breathing tube I brought home from the hospital when I was incarcerated for pneumonia ... I have a green one, too, with much more stuff inside - I'm saving that for something really special. :-)

Progress ...
One

Two

Three

Prince of Styrene, are you ready to receive? I think I'm about ready to ship this out to you ... just a wee bit more PSR, and I do mean a wee bit.

Ready & willing!! Some interesting stuff ya' got there. I'm kinda feeling an underwater craft of some kind, maybe... I like the indented rounded triangle bit- kinda looks like it could be a launch bay or a scuba egress... And I like what you did with your A-hull! LOL (Sorry guys, inside joke.) Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday for the hand off!

OK - Progress! Prince of Styrene has the Bacqatcha. We both agreed, this is the better model of the two (this and the first one). When it left me, it looked like this:

Stern view

Starboard Flank

Bow

Port Flank

I expect it will soon look quite different. :-)

In other news, Ignatz is still not answering e-mails and pm's ... If anyone has a more direct method of contacting him, please do so - I'm very worried about him. It's rather as if he's fallen off the planet ...

I, too, am becoming concerned. The PM that I sent time/date stamped "Sat Feb 28, 2015 12:22 pm" is still sitting in my Outbox.

Anybody have a way to get in touch with him?

Thanks to Johnnycrash posting Ignatz's phone number I was able to call him (Ignatz). I left a message and my number. He called me back! :-)

Iggy asked me to let everyone know that he is now OK, not dead or in a ditch, but that he was a month in hospital & recovery because of a blood infection that was very serious (my words, not his - he said "things were kinda iffy").

Because of the illness, he is very far behind on everything. He's got a mountain of back-logged stuff on to get through, so he won't be on SSM much until he's done that.

In other news, he said he did some very good work on the Lake Effect, and wants to send it on to Gundamhead - and will, once he gets an address. I offered to ask Prince of Styrene send him the second model, but he declined, citing that mountain of backlog.

So, it appears that through the trickery of Fate, we will have two models - one with Ignatz's input, and one without - so long as you are all good with that. :-)

I reckon that if we can cycle the Bacqatcha through with only a week of building each, then we'll make it in time. It'll be a bit frantic, I grant you, but still fun. :-)

Good to hear that Iggy is okay!! Today & tomorrow are my weekend, so I plan on working on it & then sending it on to Lonewolf. I'll snap a few pics & send it along before I head out to work Saturday.

PM sent with my snail-mail addy!

I'm glad I cleared some space off on my workbench, and I'm looking forward to this.

Were we going to have another go-around on this, to give everyone a second shot at it, before I send it to the CoMMiES for display at WonderFest?

As I understood it, our rotation for the Lake Effect was this, originally :
1. Scotaidh
2. Prince of Styrene
3. Ignatz
4. Gundamhead
5. Lonewolf finishes the model and arranges for the model to show up at WF.

Ignatz has asked to not be in the rotation for the second model, but he's sending the Lake Effect on to Gundamhead.

The rotation for the Bacqatcha was this:
1. Scotaidh
2. Prince of Styrene
3. Gundamhead
4. Lonewolf finishes the model and arranges for the model to show up at WF.

One problem I can see is that Gundamhead and possibly Lonewolf now end up with two completely different models to greebilize - it could be a strain.

A second problem is that Lonewolf is now on the hook to (arrange for) transport of two models to WF.

I don't really know how to resolve this - I hate to waste Ignatz's work on the Lake Effect (which he did in good faith), but I feel that the Bacqatcha is actually the better model ... and that's my fault.

What does the rest of the team think?

So . . . . Prince of Styrene needs to send the new kit to Gundamhead, not to me.
