Here are the pics. Nah just seems that most who are discussing are either involved in the challenge or they have at least designed something that would fit the bill for others to expand upon. :D

This all goes back to the original intent as well. No existing kits. You can go off a pre made design as long as no commercially available kit is made. So while a trade fed tank would be an easy in it is a ready made kit. same with the snow speeder. Support type vehicles are welcome too but if it ge...

From its performance seen on screen id have to say no the Snowspeeder is not a hovertank type vehicle. It uses Repulsorlift tech in it according to other books but it is more like a low altitude strike craft. Its original role in the SW universe was as a small cargo tug similar to a workbee in the S...

If that board is anything like the modeling board im using there is a way to do it.

Spray it with a good filling primer or thinned bondo glazing putty. Then sand and repeat until you have a good smooth finish.

If your going to use it you had better modify the heck out of it. That rule is mainly for the "Merkava or Leo" unmodified hull crowd. I want this challenge to really stretch skill sets. It also gets people looking at things differrently Other vehicle types are OK. Id prefer a tank but if t...

Cabal Hover tank

Inspired by the PSP game battle zone i have started working on a design. I had posted it before but it sat on a shelf for a good while. Its back out now. Ill try to get some shots up tonight. Heres a link to a pic of the tank as presented in game. My variation is loosely based on this as far as over...

Im going with a more modular design look to mine. The central core is supposed to act like the life pod design of an F-1 racer or a speed boat. Even if every bit of the vehicle is knocked out or damaged the central part is the most well armored.

Yes you can. As long as its not a commonly seen Tank or other real AFV your fine. This also includes wheeled AFVs like the LAV or stryker and also includes previous hover tanks like the games workshop stuff. Thats cheating :P . The main point of this is to get everyone to exercise their ideas for ho...

I hate arguing grav tank physics. Who cares, they look cool. Arguing is one thing. But hashing out the different ideas of how they could work given the persons idea is fun. Heck look at some of the recoil dampers we have now. Were developing floating gun systems so they transfer no recoil to a vehi...

PS, Chris I like the simple design idea of your HT, though your mention of the vehicle ramming opersition has the draw back of the force of the vehicle striking another object would be transfered to the crew, regardless of being a hover tank they would feel the change in G force as the Hover tank i...

Thats the idea chris :D Its also one of my faves for its simplicity!. Im doing a turreted one. In the universe its from tanks may still be required to fight from a hull down position. One rule of any warfare is the more material you have between you and the enemy forces while still being able to cle...

To a few questions. Yes you can use tank bits as greeblies. However no you cannot use the hull or turret from an already existing tank model . The overall shape must be unique and not readily identifiable as coming from another AFV. If John wants to give this a section for the public to post in and ...

I'm sure if you have hover technology you have some way to overcome recoil. I have someplace packed away an old WWII 1/72? scale tank I was converting to hover ages ago. I might be able to dig it out to finish it. AH But that goes against the one rule i have for this. No use of any preexisting tank...

Hover tank challenge

Hover tanks seem to be pretty popular on here but theres always one thing that has made me wonder. Aside from maybe 2 examples i can think of (one was a floating concrete brick) All of them are based on previously existing tank chassis, hulls and turrets. Be it Merkava, Leopard, Abrams or even T-72....

Who cast the kit. I have seen on some occasions if the master is glass smooth and the casts from it are equally as smooth then paint wont stick until you rough up the resin a bit with some 300-400 paper.

To highlight the edges of the chips try using a pencil. Yp burnish the lead on the edge and it should produce a scale metallic highlight that will make it look more worn and give a slight sheen to the corner.

Depends on the subject. Tank=paint it all together since thats how its done in the real world. if its a figure , car or even a starship i usually paint it in subassemblies to make the detailing easier.
