Sink me. The links above are the first time I've ever really looked at Cowboy's Star Semi...and the three pods just lept out at me. Those are are the tops of the old, old Lindberg ( Ex-Strombecker? ) Lunar lander, aren't they? I only know this because I put a couple of them together just like that a...

Local Hobby Shop carries Evergreen Styrene, but their stocking is a bit sporadic. Both Evergreen and Plastitruct have websites, and I know the latter sells on-line, but I've heard their webstore is a right pain. I have started using sign plastic, and haven't come across anything that wouldn't respon...

One is polyethylene, which doesn't respond well to most adhesives. I'd avoid it.

Whereas I didn't even notice the screws until I came back and looked at it a second time. Now that I have...yeah, they're a little distracting. Might be some google eyes at the local craft store that would serve to cover 'em. Not quite hemispheric, but close enough I think. That aside, its a neat lo...

Not an idiot question at all, Scratch-and I apologise for the tardy response-I haven't looked in here in quite awhile. Anyway, yes, it is 1/72 scale. A kit, well, I could try getting the Dwarfstar folks interested ( I could certainly see doing other builds from GRAV ARMOR ) but I wouldn't hold my br...

Compressor Question
I've got a badger model 180-11 compressor with automatic shut-off, and after one session this morning, its goone a bit strange on me. The auto-shutoff function, which caused it to run intermittantly ( but effecitvely ) while spraying has ceased operating, and while there is some pressure throught th...

Karim, that is one of the most elegant, simple and comvincing 'space fighters' I have ever seen. Well done, sir, well done. If you do get around to reprising the design in a larger scale, the only suggestion I'd make would be to add a cockpit. The missile bay and the open laser and sensor hatches ar...

Donnewtype wrote Some of the stuff here is quite original and very well thought out. And I have to say that your writing Dr. Yo shows a real originality and an attention to detail that makes it a lot of fun to read. Thank you, Don-I appreciate it. Its not all that original-Its very much inspired by...

I was looking in at ARC and spotted a terriic scratch-built PACV in 1/35. The Aircraft Resource center doesn't seem to allow direct links, but if you scroll down on the main page you'll come to it. http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal11/10001-10100/gal10055-PACV-Blackheart/00.shtm (I fixed it f...

The scale is a tough call-I can see it working nicely either way, though I'd lean toward 1/35. That scale makes it more like a light tank, along the lines of the Scimitar/Scorpian family. Anyway, keep at it, and cheer up! Our host and instigator has yet to so much as acknowledge my builds, let alone...

I haven't done any fiberglass work myself, but I've heard Vince Hoffman talk about using a thirty minute epoxy for the lay up, and he seems pretty satisfied with it. I remember my brothers building surfboards with glass and polyester resin when I was a kid in the '60s, and the stuff is pretty toxic....

Drake is also ex-military, so I don't think he's just whistling in the dark here, either. I happily admit to being wrong about about hovercraft floating, though the point Wug made subsequently, that they would be a drag to tow, is as valid. As 'Gosh-Wow' as hovercraft are, you'll notice the armed fo...

A grav vehicle could, certainly. Regular hovercraft have been employed for years by us and the Russians. The downside of any fan-lifted craft is that it won't float with the engines ideling. I gather there are some control and handling issues with hovercraft as well, ( I remember this being mentione...

I've only done one example of salt weathering myself, but got some good insights into it from Kylwell at Wonderfest. One trick is to use a simple business card, folded slightly, as an applicator. Another is to remember the various types of salt-popcorn salt, for instance, is a good bit finer than re...
