Iwata Triple Action Handle Set vs Preset Handle
Should I buy a Triple Action Handle or a Preset Handle for my Iwata Eclipse. I intended to purchase a Preset Handle at Wonderfest. Tag Team didn't have any at the show and they gave me a hard sell on the Triple Action Handle. I'm sure the Preset will do everything I need it to do - easily limit the ...

Go to a glass store. Buy a sheet of glass in the size you want and have them dull the edges so it doesn't cut you. It cost a lot less than I expected. The glass is very flat and makes a perfect surface for sandpaper. You can scrape anything off of it with a razor blade scraper. Put a self-healing ma...

What kind of airbrush do you have? What kind of paint do you use? If you use a water-based acrylic, flush it with the manufacturers recommended cleaner, disassemble it and soak everything in water until you get home and can give it a good cleaning. A while back I read an airbrush book. The author cl...

naoto, The specs claim Raspberry Pis play 1080p60 HD media. Do they play it well? When Pis first came out there were construction articles by people using them for home entertainment centers. Yet the early versions had audio problems. When I was in a RadioShack about a year ago they sold Raspberry P...

$5.00 Raspberry Pi
Since no one here mentioned it before, the new Raspberry Pi Zero has a $5.00 MSRP. Eventually supply will catch up with demand.

Hi, You have a great idea for a thread. When I reentered modeling I was obsessed with fillers and primers because I had so much trouble with seams. Currently I use Gunze Sangyo's Mr. Surfacer 500 or Mr. Surfacer 1000 thinned with Mr. Color Thinner shot through an airbrush. I also apply it out-of-the...

Years ago some figure modelers gave a demo on using water colors for details at Wonderfest. They used artist quality water colors. They used water colors because it allowed them to easily redo mistakes. If they didn't like the way something turned out they could wipe off the water color. Once they l...

Iwata Eclipse Help Needed!!!
Now my Eclipse sprays lines no wider than 1/8 inch even with the trigger all the way back. It doesn't matter what I spray. This happens with lacquer thinner and Mr. Surfacer 1000 thinned with Mr. Thinner. Damage to the nozzle or needle seem unlikely. They look okay. I don't remember damaging them th...

Recycling #1, PETE or PET, is Polyethylene terephthalate. At least some of it can be glued with CA and epoxy, primed with Mr. Surfacer then painted with regular model paints. The local hobby shop had a spaceship model made from TV dinner trays. I won a bronze at Wonderfest with a model that has PETE...

You can't use enamels or oil based paints on a vinyl kit. Mr. Surfacer and many automotive primers are acrylic lacquers. They are safe for vinyl. I used Mr. Surfacer on the only vinyl kit I've built. I've never tried but supposedly Future or whatever Pledge calls it now is a good primer for vinyl. I...

Don't soak. Most plastics will absorb a small amount of water. Keep the trees, tabs and stuff you cut off the parts. Clean the parts with Superclean or a tire cleaner. Wear gloves and maybe eye protection. Keep the cleaner away from pets and children. If the parts don't feel clean, test lacquer thin...

There's no best filler just the fillers you like the best. Now I use Mr. Surfacer for small stuff and Aves the larger things. I like them because they minimize the need to sand. Once dry you can wipe Mr. Surfacer off with 99% isopropyl alcohol. You can work and smooth Aves before it dries with water...
