Spheres and hemispheres
I've done some searching, and couldn't find another mention, so I thought I'd pass this on. I discovered a good source of cheap styrene spheres and hemisperes: Fishing bobbers. I had read awhile back a passing reference to a fishing bobber being used as the bottom of an iconic robot, the Neuspotter....

The Titans of Siren (update 5/04/10 )
The fans from Brazil are on hold at the moment-I got distracted building this 'grav battleship' from the Grav Armor game. Its one of the Titan class of heavy tanks, described in the rules as a 'land battleship' akin to the ancient T-35 & Neubaufahrzeug tanks of 20th century Earth. I've always ha...

Fans from Brasil
Just one teaser shot for the moment-these are the forms for the hulls of the three builds I'm planning*. Inspired my MaK concepts, the two smaller hulls are 1/76th, while the one on the right will be 1/35th. These are from a purely conjectural "Brasil", a member of the Galactic Federation ...

Modelnutz' build
Ed asked me if I'd post his build pics-and here you go: HT-1 HT-3 and on the subject of the builds themselves, he said The attached pics are the major components of my hover tank ( you could say that they've recently arrived at the factory where they will be assembled into the working prototype ) At...

Looking forward to it-its terrific so far. I don't know about modeling board ( is it something like Resnshape?) but for surfacing regular insulation styrafoam I've had good luck using Elmers Wood putty. Smooths with water, dries quickly, and its cheap. Still quite delicate, so I wouldn't reccomend i...

You have heard about the Battle of 73 Easting, correct? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_73_Easting Not directly, and it appears I was wrong. Ground technology* and training seem to have been at least as impotant as airpower. EDIT: An interesting article from The Economist . I don't keep up w...

One Zero mused MBTs in Irag and Afcrapistan haven't been used for tank v tank mayhem. So do you need all the mass and armor and weaponry? Or does your hover-mayhem-device need to be more like a UAV .... lurking around unnoticed until that high value target appears? The lack of a desert Kursk was mo...

here's the pages from the Starship Modeler store that list the number of engine bells, and other thruster types they carry. I've used both the Kotobukiya and Wave engine bells and the Kotobukiya releases tend to be a little more detailed, but they're both pretty good. http://www.starshipmodeler.com/...

I'd call it an assault gun as the main armament appearsss* to be fixed in the foward arc, but other than that, its a sharp looking design. You do favor the curvaceous in your aesthetic, don't you? :) I agree with you about FichtenFoo's Martian hovertank, but the Lunadiver is a space craft pure and s...

Just as the tank increases in sophistication, so too will the land mine. I could see something more akin to a camouflaged launcher ( a fiberglass shell resembling a boulder, or a fallen log, for instance ) scattered about the landscape. A sudden variance in local gravity might trigger something like...

The final decision would be up to the originator of the challenge I, suppose, but I don't see why it couldn't be some form of support vehicle. I don't think there's a ban of existing armor kit components, just on their unmodified use- no Pzkw IV hulls with jets on the side, for instance. But if you ...

Thats going to make me go back and re-read Piper-I haven't picked up anything by him in years. No clear plan at the moment, though I'm hoping this challenge will spur me to finish rebuilding the vacuform box I started about five years ago. I have a form based on an old 'SF3D My Original' ( the fan d...

Such as...? Not raggin', genuinely curious. Any kind of Grav vehicle is almost certainly going to have to use some form of nuclear power, I thought...but reflecting on it, it would sort of depend on how your AG system worked. If its an active system, actually levitating the vehicle, then I could see...

Something like this?
It uses the concept of the S-tank, but its all from sheet styrene and
the spares boxes.
Some of the best thinking I ever ran across on the subject of Hover
tanks and their gravitic descendants was in the pages of the old
Traveller supplement, Mercenary.

I am now one of the faithful to this flock. This stuff works great, and sands much easier than Magic Sculpt, which seems like sanding concrete when compared to this stuff. Is that the paste or the putty you're talking about? I've used A+B putty for years, and while I like it, it does get ...
