If you used superglue, debonders are available. For hot styrene glues like Tenax, Tamiya glues etc, you wont be able to remove them very well as they bond directly by melting the plastics.
Good luck!

Sealing buffable metallizers`

Has anyone had any experience in sealing buffable metallizers - ie, Testor's metallizers, or Alclad? Is it necessary, and if so, what do you use, and what effect does it have on the surface luster.
Thanks for your time!

The resin is a very thin wing. If the resin was cracked, the wing would fall off, it's that thin. That also why it 'spring' bent when I dropped it. Im going to try a couple of coats of Future (Pledge) and hope it will bind the 4-5 layers of paint i've put on, which are a couple of coats of Mr Surfac...

Paint crack - help!

Okay, so I'm trying to finish this resin kit which I've lovingly painted and decaled. Mid way through decalling I drop it, and nothing breaks (phew!) but a thin resin wing must have sprung back because now it has a hairline crack in the paint. There is no chipping - yet. Any suggestions? I'm thinkin...

Rub-down decals + overcoat

Im getting hold of some rub-down decals for a model (not waterslide) and am wondering if there are any issues I need to be aware of in coating them. They are going on top of Future, which I presume will not be a problem, but is anyone aware if I can coat over them with Future?

If youre getting bleed, try thinning your paint less when you airbrush, and use a lower pressure. And a few very light coats.

Need to modify a clear resin cast

I've got a clear resin canopy. I want to remove some of the 'detail' on the canopy so I can either just paint it on, or create it in another medium. Can I just sand and polish the clear resin, as I normally would other resin? Or is there anything else I need to be aware of, as I only get one crack a...

Finish on RTV master

I'm preparing an item that will be the master for an RTV mould which I need to get a smooth finish on. Not just a 'polish for a couple of minutes' smooth finish, but like glass. Dry Future + RTV = disaster? Any other ideas? This particular item does not have much detail on it, it's kinda like a cano...

I've got a few models I would like to display in 'flying' mode. I dont mind the concept behind the Starwars Finemolds styrene assemblies except for two things: they are too big in relation to the subject, and they are not transparent. I would like to have a crack at making my own, with just two piec...

Wash stain with oils on acrylic

I did my first oil wash on a clear gloss acrylic. Prior to this I tended to use pastel washes and other acrylic washes, with varying results. I still quite like pastel washes, they just have their limitations. I was quite surprised how the oil brought out very fine panel lines and I quite impressed....

Hairline gap, no room for sanding

Hi guys, I have a hairline - and I mean hairline gap over abour half an inch on a rounded area and the normal putty+sanding is NOT an option, due to the delicate nature of the immediate vicinity. Any advice? Im thinking something like a glue or something that would go in via capillary action... but ...

Pastel wash fixative?

After a bit of a modelling hiatus (renovations, don't ask), I thought I'd start small, and throw in a couple of new techniques. I tried a pastel-based wash. Basically, it rocks! Good-bye smelly stuff... What it's like to know though, is what kind of fixative I can apply without obliterating it. I've...

It really depends on your model size and expectations. The Tamiya rattlecan primers really allow detail to stand out, and are fine for smaller models (ie 1/72). However, for modellers who stick to larger scales, the level of detail may not simply be there for Tamiya to be worth it, as it IS rather e...
