This is what I've been using for about 2 1/2 years now. Relatively quiet (compared to my compressor for the pressure pot, like 3 times as quiet) and pulls 29.5" Hg in about 30 seconds in a 2.5 gallon pot. Hope this helps!

The one down side I see with two sided tread patterns is seams. When you do the open face mold, inevitably, with the heat generated by resin curing, you'll get very slight size differences in halves, causing that annoying tread seam up the middle. I say if it can be done, cast them as one piece. Bet...

Is the beam expected to hold any weight? If not, why not try one of those colored transarencies they use in schools, and put the LED in the top/bottom of one of those? If it is supposed to hold some weight, then try a colored hamster tunnel , and cut to fit. EDIT: Oops I just re-read it, you already...
