It's been a bit since I've airbrushed Tamiya. I usually used what worked out closer to 30% thinner with flats; more thinner with gloss. Air pressure was whatever comes out of the Badger Whirlwind compressor less a bit of leakage through a valve. I'd really rather not talk about trying to paint yello...

I use warm white LED in those sizes for model trains. Have not looked at e-bay and don't know exactly what you are seeing. I raided Christmas light sets for cheaper than model train supplier ones. Although they vary a bit they aren't any more yellow, light-wise, than regular incandescent light bulb....

Based on my experience with train decals, the setting solution would be enough. A lot of us railroaders soak all the glue off before applying decal. And Microscale doesn't use much more glue than required to hold the film to the paper. The solvents either Micro Sol or Solvaset pretty much melt the d...

Started using it early 80s for model RR stuff. Very good. If a more potent solution is needed on some decals, model RR supplier Walthers makes one called Solvaset but it can be too strong for some decals. Microscale also has a liquid decal film which can be employed to salvage old decals which might...

Re: A big scratch build space carrier
I think the model will be 1/700 scale or maybe 1/1400 i don't know. If you use 1/700 there are plastic model planes (a number molded in clear) for US, Soviet, other, carriers and other model ship aftermarket part sets in both plastic and etched metal, even with figures. Go to Squadron Mail Order ho...

Used a lot of these things drilling HO locomotives and cars for grab irons - thing to do is find a style of pin vise which allows bit to be seated way in so only about 1/4 inch or so is exposed. Mine are something like 20 years old but this looks to be similar - ones I have shaft is hollow which all...
