Favorite scribing tool MIA

So, I had an awesome scribing tool years back that instead of just a pin, it actually removed material. For a few years it was MIA. I searched high and low on the internet and could find a replacement. It eventually showed up last year, and while using it the other other day I happened to look on th...

Re: What is the oldest paint you have that is still good?

So I must be really lucky regarding my old paints. I am still working on the repo pirate kits from Lindburg and need orange and green for some of the clothing. I actually had both in the old square Testors bottles both were separated carrier and pigment. the green mixed up well. I always stir, not s...

Re: LED flexible filament

I was thinking of something less flexible, maybe the pickup tube from a spray bottle.

Re: LED flexible filament

Now the real challenge is finding a tubing that is clear that I can run the filament through to achieve rigidity. I am thinking a ball point pen ink tube. So far all I have are a bit to small. I suppose I can bore it out with a 2mm drill bit. Also thinking of using conductive epoxy or glue instead o...

Re: LED flexible filament

Received in yesterday's mail. Flexible as cooked spaghetti. Not super bright, a nice even glow. I am going to order in green to use for warp nacelles in the old Romulan Warbird from the TNG Adversary set. The blue looks really good.

Paint storage racks

So I was looking on Amazon for some paint storage racks for bottles of modeling paints and did not find any that would hold my bottles of Testors Createfx enamel stains that I recently bought a bunch of on Evilbay because the have been apparently discontinued. There was nothing there that would hold...

Pretty cool, I can see them being used for car headlights or a landed Klingon bird of prey diorama.

Re: What is the oldest paint you have that is still good?

I do have some testors metalizer lacquers from the 90's, but they are all the buffing metalizers for airbrush only, although I have brushed them before. 1/2 oz bottles :
1- gunmetal
2- stainless steel
3 - aluminum plate
I may have some spray cans, but not easy to get to right now.

Need to mix up some bronze and was quite surprised that I have some vintage 90's testors enamels that are sill good. Epic score :D .

What is the oldest paint you have that is still good?

As an old modeler that has been in and out of the hobby many times, I ask what is the oldest bottle of model paint you have been able to use? I first started building around 1968 with the Red Baron show car. About my 3rd time re-entering the hobby in the 1990's I was able to use an old bottle of Tes...

Re: Fixing panel line messes

I am certainly no expert when it comes to scribing, but after I started reading this thread I watched a Youtube video about "sprue goo". I like the idea of it actually being styrene. Now I am no expert about anything at all, I am a "Jack of all trades, master of none" :). I am cu...

Tamiya handy drill

My better half got me one of these for Christmas, although it came a few days later. So I finally thought to put it together today, and since I am no longer a young guy, and I have a bit of arthritis, it was not as quick of a build as I thought it would be. (like anything else!). Got to say, other t...

It's been decades Since I did a rocket, but I would suggest sanding sealer applied with a brush in the groove and light sanding.

The best results I've had were from soaking the parts in brake fluid for a day or so, then scrubbing with an old toothbrush. To clean off any residue, I use Westley's Bleach White tire cleaner and the old toothbrush (after using soap & water). Be sure to wear rubber gloves for the Westley's as i...

Congrats on your purchase! I have a 1970 SST with a 360. You should check out the AMC forum, LOTS of goog info there! You will find that prices on ebay can be crazy, but keep looking as sometimes a good buy can be had. Also check out Planethoustonamx - Eddie Stakes Knows more about these cars than a...
