Re: Drilling Really Tiny Holes?

If you're friendly with your dentist he (or she) would probably be willing to give you old dental bits. Even when they're no longer good for teeth they're fine for styrene and resin. Been using them for years and have only broken two.

Am I the only one noticing a decline in the number of posts around here? Is this just folks getting ready for WF or is it, dun dun dun, something else?

So "Red" means "Not Read"? Kind of counter-intuitive.

Is there a website that does this?

1. You upload a color.
2. It replies: "To obtain this color mix "x"% of "Y" paint with "x"% of "Z" paint.

Would take a lot of guesswork out of this hobby.

"First Lunar Outpost" was mine, but I was very impressed with the "Ares". (I hope whoever did that one sent a link to Stepen Baxter.) And "Hippy Huey" was great.

I had this happen once with Testors spray. Two weeks in the basement bathroom with the dehumidifier going constantly finally took care of it.

I went with the wood. Carved down good. Split well. Filled in some spots where I'd overcarved with regular auto putty. Am sanding away the edges now.

I swipe used hypodermics at the vet, wash out any remaining medicine in them and just use the markings on the side. Modern hypos all have the needles screw off and they're tossed separate.

Carving a prototype

Working on a project that needs a piece roughly the size of a pack of cigs. What I want to do, since it's a fairly simple shape is cut a prototype from something to use as a stand-in for the real part to coordinate the other pieces of the project, then shave down the prototype to create the actual p...

Curses. I've accumulated a lot of those little trays, being a believer in the four food groups (fast, frozen, canned, and junk).

Guess I'll stick to using them for the little paint bottles of whatever project I'm working on or other utilitarian purposes.

as a cheap source of plastic.

I'm thinking of a project where I might need a lit of thin small sheet pieces. Is the kind of plastic used in Stoffers or Marie Calender frozen dinners basically suitabole to be used in lieu of regular styrene?

(Never tried it before.)

Another "best glue" question

I'm doing a scratchbuild with solar panels and I ran across some mylar wrapping "paper", metallic blue on one side, at the dollar store and I say to myself, "Hey, this would make great solar panel. Now most of the panels are flat so no problem there, but a couple are corrugated. Now, what glue shoul...
