|
Scale: 1/650 Here is the U-Thant from Rick Sternbach's "Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology". She is an unmanned deep space probe in 1/650 scale. The paint scheme is heavily influenced by the Voyager space probes. The model is right out of the bits box! The forward section is a Right Guard top from ages ago. The plating is automotive striping tape. The fuel sphere is made from two Super Sugar Crisp terrariums that I had as a kid. There are quite a few tires and hubcaps in the mix. The engine bell is made from the base of Darth Vader's Tie Fighter. This is strutted to the main body with fishing-line. The push-plate is made from plastic sheet covered in Reynold's Wrap aluminum foil. The communications dish amidships is made from a plastic capsule you get for a quarter (I threw away the ring - no place for it in any model!)
